Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge is one of the most famous attractions in Northern Ireland, owned and maintained by the reputable, National Trust. It is an amazing cliff top experience where you can cross a 30 metre drop via the famous rope bridge from the mainland to Carrick-a-Rede island. The bridge is only open from May to October. The rope bridge was traditionally erected by salmon fishermen and is thought to have been used for over 350 years. There are large caves underneath, which were once used by boat builders. The bridge is no longer used by fishermen today, as there are very few salmon left.

The area is designated, an area of special scientific interest as it has unique flora, fauna and geology. It has exceptional natural beauty, brilliant birdwatching and the views across to Rathlin Island and the Scottish Islands are fantastic.

The North Coast of Antrim offers unrivalled coastal scenery and the famous UNESCO world heritage site, the Giant's Causeway is only 7 miles from the cottage. This area is truly outstanding.
