Also nearby is Glandore or in Gaelic “Cuan Dor” meaning the harbour of the oaks, one of the most picturesque villages in Ireland where you can sit and watch watch the world and the yachts go by while savouring delicious seafood in the excellent restaurants. There are several pubs with traditional music where you can relax and meet the locals at night. Enjoy a picnic on one of the safe sandy beaches nearby where the kids can play or enjoy pleasant walks.

Explore Drombeg with its famous Drombeg Stone Circle and Rosscarbery one of Irelands most visited megalithic sites where you will also find a hotel with a swimming pool and a park for children. Golfers will have no difficulty finding excellent courses in this part of Cork. Take short drive to the market town of Skibbereen with good local shopping and a range of excellent restaurants or slightly further on to Baltimore, a lovely fishing village and sailing centre where you can get the ferry to Shirkin Island and Cape Clear. Nearby is Lough Hyne, the deepest salt water lake and nature reserve in Europe, from here the views across the islands to the famous Fastnet are breathtaking.
