River House could be described as a little piece of heaven on earth, an oasis of utter peace and tranquillity where you can marvel at the wonder of nature.
This former 500 year old Irish farmhouse has been lovingly restored and extended into a 5 bedroom house with every modern convenience. From the moment you open the door you will be enthralled with the décor, quality and spaciousness of this fine house. Rest a while in the large living room in front of the feature fireplace and just for now, allow yourself to be lord of the manor. As you dine in the intimate dining room with its log burning stove cast your eye out through the huge conservatory which adjoins and survey the sheer grandeur of the gardens. The four pleasant bedrooms, two at each end of the house are comfortably furnished and ensure a good night’s rest (well suited for two families), while three bathrooms are beautifully finished and more than adequate. For larger parties one of the barns has just been converted to a large family room available for additional cost with 2 more beds. The property is secluded down a private lane, set in three and a half acres of beautiful gardens and woodland walks boasting it’s own seventy meter frontage on the river llen where you can fish for salmon and sea trout in season (licence required).
You might not want to leave this idyllic setting but if you can tear yourself away there is so much else to see and do. Located in Coolnaclehy you are less than 5 km from the bustling market town of Skibbereen with good local shopping and a range of excellent restaurants. For a relaxing night out visit one of the traditional Irish bars in the area and let the Irish music thrill you. Golf enthusiasts can visit the 18 hole course just 5 minutes out of town. A short scenic drive will take you to Baltimore, a lovely fishing village and sailing centre where you can get the ferry to Shirkin Island and Cape Clear (Gaelic speaking). The deepest salt water lake and nature reserve in Europe, Lough Hyne, is just 6 km away and from here the views across the islands to the famous Fastnet are breathtaking. A 20 km drive takes you to Bantry where you can visit the French Armada Exhibition Centre and many other places of historic interest as well as shops and good restaurants. Take a scenic drive to the picturesque resort of Schull only 19 kms away and enjoy all it has to offer including whale and dolphin watching trips in summer.
River House is a wonderful holiday home in a truly captivating location providing everything necessary for a holiday you will remember forever.

This is very much our Irish family home and we hope you will find it has a really welcoming feel. We have books, games, CDs, DVDs etc. We also have a dolls house and various toys for the younger ones. The furnishing, fixtures and fittings are of good quality with many original and unique features. There are open fires and wood burning stoves (as well as central heating) and plenty of wood available in the woodshed. Outside the garden and woods are great to explore, there is a huge trampoline and benches and seating dotted about the place. Getting to the house involves driving down our bumpy lane and opening/closing a couple of gates which our children always compete to do. We have a dog who comes with us to the house, however, he is never allowed upstairs or on any furniture.
If you want to bring a pet then subject to the same rules this will probably be OK.
The barn conversion is a new addition and is available for use by people letting the house for a small supplement.
Weekends are charged for three night minimum stay, week nights by arrangement with owner.
We will normally ask for a 50% payment on booking confirmation and the balance 2 weeks before. We will also normally ask for a €100 refundable deposit against breakages or damage. There is also a €10per day utilities cost.
Your message will be sent directly to the owner of this property.
