Lough Ine House is a luxurious 4* Star period country manor located on the edge of one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe, only 4 km from Baltimore in West Cork.
Situated on 6 hectares of private land with enchanting gardens, this elegant Regency manor was built in 1830 as a hunting lodge for Lord Carbery and is undoubtedly a striking feature on the landscape of Lough Ine. Set on a tree-lined hill overlooking the Lough, this stunning white mansion looks like something straight out of a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Furnished to an exceptionally high standard befitting of a country mansion, this elegant small stately home is simply charming, and can leave the most bashful of on-lookers speechless at the extent of its romantic atmosphere. The living room has stunning views of the Lough and hills. It has large bay windows, which bathe the room in sunlight. With seating for 10 people and exquisite period décor, including 19th century portraits adorning the walls, this room really is magnificent. The reception room has patio doors looking out onto luxuriant landscaped gardens, while a curved staircase is the crowning feature of an elegant hall. There are 5 bedrooms, three of which are on the 1st floor. The master bedroom boasts stunning sea views and is decorated with a fairytale 4-poster bed and chintz covered walls, from Colefax and Fowler. The 2nd bedroom has twin beds, wall covered material from Pierre Frey, and benefits from the same sea view, while the third bedroom overlooks the gardens. On the ground floor there are two twin bedrooms with striking wood panelled décor. The most stunning feature of this house is the beautiful conservatory filled with an 19th century vine. It is ensuite of the kitchen and the diningroom, the ideal place to read your papers in the sun or have a drink before lunch.
Lough Ine is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and due to the diverse range of sea creatures that can be found here such as trigger fish and red-mouthed goby, it was designated as Ireland's first Marine Nature Reserve in 1981. The Lough is surrounded by lush woodland, ideal for long scenic walks. Visitors of Lough Ine House have access to their very own rowing boat and can explore the island where there are still some remains of a tower of Cloghan Castle, which stand on Castle Island in the centre of the Lough. At nearby Baltimore, a picturesque village famous for its boatbuilding heritage, one can spend an afternoon on a whale or dolphin watching charter, or even ask one of the locals to take you on their boat to explore some of the most beautiful islands in Roaring Water Bay! In the evenings why not dine out at Baltimore’s finest restaurants, serving some of the best seafood in Ireland.
Skibbereen is the main town and is about 5 kms from the house, you can find fine food at Fields or have it delivered to your house, go to the Saturday market or enjoy a pint in one of the many pubs.
Golfers will enjoy the 18-hole Golf Course located only 2 kms from Lough Ine House, on the road toward Skibbereen.
Lough Ine Country Manor is set amidst some of the most stunning scenery in Ireland, and for any intrepid explorers who land on this magical shoreline, a stay in this gorgeous mansion will be an unforgettable experience.
