Annagry and Kincasslagh are situated in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht area, which means an Irish speaking area. The Irish language is one of the oldest surviving European languages, and is spoken in several areas of Donegal stretching from Fanad Head in north Donegal to Slieve League in southwest Donegal. To understand the essence of Irish culture, a visit to one of these places is vital. The locals also speak English and are only too happy to help you if you need assistance.
West Donegal is stunningly beautiful with it's rolling hills and rugged coastline. There are many activities for visitors to enjoy such as walking, mountain-climbing, surfing, golf, cycling, deep sea or lake and river fishing.
The must see attractions are Glenveagh National Park with its 10,000 hectares of mountains, lakes, glens and woodlands with a herd of Red Deer. A Scottish style castle, built in 1873 is surrounded by luxuriant gardens, which contrast with the rugged surroundings. The visitor centre includes displays explaining the park along with an audio-visual display in English, Irish, French, German and Italian.
The Dunlewey Lakeside Centre is another must see attraction which is not too far from the house. The centre has a farm yard, pony trekking, boat trips on the lake, a good craft shop and weaving house, audio visuals, and a children's play area. It's a great day out for all the family.
Ceol Na Mara is the perfect Irish holiday home, a great base to enjoy exploring beautiful Donegal.
