The Old White Cottage - Derrybeg, Donegal

The Old White Cottage is a quaint traditional Irish cottage located in the pretty village of Derrybeg in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht region where the first spoken language is Irish.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms and an extra bed located on the gallery loft. There is an authentic turf fire and oil central heating. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the beach is only a short distance from the cottage.

A short drive will take you to many scenic sights and locations, including Mount Errigal, Donegal's highest mountain, Glenveagh National Park and Castle, Dunlewey Centre which is great for boating on the lake, watersports, walks, and treasure hunts.

There are many sports offered in the region including, climbing, hiking, surfing, fishing, horse and pony trekking and of course golf. There is 9 hole golf course locally and another stunning coastal links course nearby at Cruit Island. Donegal is also home to the renowned Rosapenna Golf Course in Downings and the Portsalon Golf Course which are both within easy driving distance.

Visit the fishing villages of Burtonport and Bunbeg and take a boat trip to the islands of Tory and Gola which gives a feel of how Ireland was in days gone by.

A visit to Ireland would not be complete without sampling the music in a typical Irish pub. Visit Donegal's most famous pub, Leo's Tavern (Tabhairne Leo), one of Donegal's most famous pubs. This is owned by the father of the international music artist Enya. It's also where some of the best musicians in the county play. Hudi Buggs is another local pub famous for its traditional music jam session.
