The Lonely Planet calls Dunfanaghy a 'beautiful spot', highly recommended as one of the top places to see when visiting North West Ireland. The towering headland of Horn Head has some of Donegal’s most spectacular coastal scenery and a fascinating array of birdlife. It offers tremendous views over the nearby islands. The beaches around Dunfanaghy are simply gorgeous and never crowded.
There are lively bars, good restaurants and charming shops. It has a post office, bank, an ATM in the Centra grocery store and watersports shops which run kids clubs in the summer. It is a popular resort with a great selection of holiday homes and holiday cottages for your self catering Dunfanaghy experience.
It is a great little live music mecca. The calibre of musicians are excellent and you definitely won't want to miss the Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival in early September. The area has not yet received the international attention it truly deserves, which is why it remains a secret beauty spot of Ireland. When you arrive you will never want to leave, but if you do, you will always want to return!
