Oughtmeen Cottage is a beautiful self-catering holiday home in a peaceful countryside setting with stunning views of the nearby mountains and lake.

The holiday cottage is newly built and is an ideal touring base to explore beautiful West Donegal. It is very spacious, has 2 bedrooms to sleep 4 people comfortably with a double bedroom and twin bedroom.

The holiday home is located in a private farm setting, in the very scenic Rosses area, surrounded by rolling countryside, in the foothills of the wonderful Derryveagh Mountains. The Rosses is blessed with numerous golden, sandy beaches, scores of lakes and renowned for its excellent angling facilities as well as perfect for hill-walking, hiking and cycling. The famous Glenveagh National Park is also on your doorstep with fantastic walking trails and guided tours amid an abundance of wildlife, including red deer and Golden Eagles. Glenveagh Castle and gardens is also a wonderful place to spend the day.

Oughtmeen Cottage is only 10 minutes from Dungloe, the town famous for its international festival held every July, Mary from Dungloe. The festival is hugely popular, attracting many visitors from around the world. There is a full week of activities and entertainment and the streets are filled with music and dancing and plenty of Irish craic!

There are lots of other pretty villages to visit nearby including, Doochary, sample some seafood in the small fishing port of Burtonport, Glenties, the heritage town of Ardara and the Gweedore Gaeltacht.The driving routes along the coastline are spectacular and you can also take a boat trip to the beautiful islands of Arranmore, Inishbofin and Tory or watch the sunsets dip over the islands every evening in summer.

Oughtmeen Cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a perfect base for exploring one of the most beautiful parts of Donegal. The scenery is amazing and you will feel like you have experienced the real Ireland.

The property itself is immediately located in a peaceful, private farming setting, with captivating mountainside and lake views. The property is located in the highly scenic Rosses area in West Donegal, in the foothillls of the Derryveagh mountains, about 4 miles east of Dungloe town. The Rosses, blessed with scores of lakes, is renowned for angling. Oughtmeen Cottage would also make an ideal base for hiking and cycling amidst the Derryveagh mountains. Dungloe town - famous for the 'Mary from Dungloe' festival that occurs each July - is a 10 minute drive away. It has all the amenities - several supermarkets, banks, a post office, etc. It's also a great spot for a bit of craic at the weekends. Other nearby places of note inlcude the picturesque village of Doochary and the small fishing port of Burtonport (a great spot to enjoy some fresh seafood). Numerous towns along West Donegal's stunning coastline are within easy drive, such as Glenties, the heritage town of Ardara and the Gweedore Gaeltacht, as well as Glenveagh National Park.
