Pettigo means ‘The place of the Blacksmith’ and got its name from the large number of Blacksmiths that worked in the village in Celtic times. It is located on the border of Donegal and Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. St. Patrick’s Purgatory of Lough Derg is situated four miles from the village. It attracts thousands of pilgrims between May and September.
