Pettigo means ‘The place of the Blacksmith’ and got its name from the large number of Blacksmiths that worked in the village in Celtic times. It is located on the border of Donegal and Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. It is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, abundant with rivers, lakes, forestry and boglands, perfect for fishermen self catering Pettigo.
With over fifty lakes and Drumgun Lough in the vicinity, there is plenty to keep the game and coarse anglers happy. There is also a special place for pilgrims seeking a spiritual retreat. St. Patrick’s Purgatory of Lough Derg is situated four miles from the village. It attracts thousands of pilgrims between May and September.
