The Lime kiln is a modern architecturally designed holiday home located in the popular family holiday resort of Portnablagh. Beautifully converted from a 19th century Lime Kiln, this property is unique and offers guests the opportunity to enjoy luxury, privacy and tranquility in a beautiful setting.

When entering this stone beauty you immediately feel the spacious, open yet cozy atmosphere of a well designed home. The dramatic entry with high ceilings leads into the kitchen with traditional range and kitchen island with modern appliances.

The entrance leads upstairs to a beautiful mezzanine floor, with family sitting room and outdoor veranda with views of the ocean beyond. A unique and special feature is the dramatic ground floor cave dining room and cosy fireside sitting room, with its vaulted ceilings and natural stone walls. These rooms are built onto the hillside and one wall is exposed to show off the natural rock face. A traditional stove is set into a 15 ft fireplace. One easy flick of a switch turns on instant heat for an eco friendly pellet burning fire.

The bedrooms which sleep 4-6 people are newly built adjoining the old Lime Kiln, however the traditional stone slab flooring gives a feeling of continuity and flow from the cave though the main level of the building. Cleverly the under floor heating gives a toasty underfoot feel. Two large double bedrooms, one with en suite shower, the other has a separate bathroom with walk in shower. Both bedrooms are light and spacious and have patio doors leading to the outdoor courtyard. On request the spacious mezzanine floor can be set up with two single beds for visiting guests.

Portnablagh with its small beach and pretty fishing harbour is only 10 mins walk from the property. From the shoreline at the harbour you look out over the broad expanse of Sheephaven Bay towards to imposing cliffs of Horn Head. The Atlantic waters are ideal for sea fishing and boats can be chartered from the harbour. For fresh water fishing, the beautiful Sessiah Lake is located right beside The Lime Kiln - you can fish here or just take a leisurely walk along its shores.

The main beach is at the near by village of Dunfanaghy, it is the golden Killahoey Strand and a brief walk away is the secluded picturesque Tranmore Strand. The equally splendid beaches of Marble Hill, Falcarragh and Ards are a brief drive away and all are excellent for both family and avid water sports enthusiasts alike– sea kayaking, surfing, wind surfing and diving being very popular in the region.
