Rose Cottage is a lovingly restored Irish cottage full of old world charm yet offering every modern convenience and utility.
The cottage is part of the prestigious Slievemoyle Cottage group which won the 'Best New Tourism Business 2008' in the Down District 'Tourism Heroes Awards'. Built in the 18th Century it creates an ambiance of the era with features such as the original traditional Irish open fireplace with crook and crane. There are 2 comfortable bedrooms sleeping up to 5 persons. A private garden complete with a decked area and garden furniture has panoramic views over spectacular countryside and is an excellent place to enjoy the beautiful sunrises.
A short drive away is Downpatrick which is home to Down County Museum, Down Cathedral, St Patrick's Visitor Centre and the final resting place of Saint Patrick, along with Saints Brigid and Colmcille. Downpatrick Race Course is home of the Ulster Grand National, and plays host to a series of meetings throughout the year. There is an indoor swimming pool, shopping and a wide choice of fine restaurants and pubs to meet the most discerning tastes.
Situated in the heart of County Down your choice of activities within a 30 mile radius is almost limitless. Spend a day in the Mourne Mountains climbing, hiking, or pony trekking. Relax on Newcastle promenade and beach, take the ferry across Strangford Lough to the Ards Peninsula. Not to mention the many castles, stately homes, parks and beaches within easy reach of the cottage.
Rose Cottage offers an opportunity to step back in time without relinquishing modern comforts and still be close to all the North has to offer including Belfast City which is less than an hour away.
