Murlough Cottage is situated in a unique waterfront location on the edge of Murlough National Nature Reserve, the first Nature Reserve managed by The National Trust since 1967.
This traditional fishermans cottage was built in 1843 and boasts amazing panoramic sea views over Dundrum Inner Bay. It is a stunning detached cottage which has been partially converted for wheelchair users. It has 1 bedroom to sleep 2 people and has a sofa bed in the sitting room to accommodate an extra person if required. It is very spacious, beautifully furnished throughout and features a large enclosed garden.
Murlough Cottage is located on the edge of the very important Murlough National Nature Reserve, an area of Special Scientific Interest and Conservation. The Nature Reserve is home to an ancient dune system and provides a unique habitat to a variety of plants and animals. It is also a great place for seal watching as a large population of grey seals regularly use the area. The best time to see them is between July to October. The wonderful golden sandy beach stretches several miles to the town of Newcastle and there is a boardwalk, which is suitable for wheelchairs.
A trip to County Down would not be complete, until the magnificent Mourne Mountains are explored. Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland and is owned by The National Trust. It offers outstanding views of you make it to the top. There are many golf courses in the area including the famous Royal County Down championship golf course which also features tremendous views of the mountains.

Murlough Cottage is suitable for the less active visitor who would prefer a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Please not it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
