Ten miles south of Belfast, historic Hillsborough is perhaps best known for it's castle which was formerly the residence of the governor of Northern Ireland and still hosts important political and civic meetings.

Hillsborough Fort, built in 1650, sits on the other side of the town square. The town is characterised by it's streets of fine georgian architecture.
