The West Wing is luxury self catering accommodation located 7 miles from Hillsborough outside Ballynahinch in the heart of County Down, midway between the city of Belfast and the magnificent Mountains of Mourne.
The West Wing is a self contained annex attached to a modern stone cottage built in traditional style. The annex has been lovingly furnished to create a luxurious, yet comfortable ambience where you can relax and unwind and enjoy your holiday whatever the weather.
There are two beautiful double bedrooms upstairs to sleep 4 people comfortably both with en-suite bathrooms. Bed linen and towels are provided and beds are changed midweek. Downstairs there is a large living room with solid oak flooring and underfloor heating. The spacious tiled entrance hall has double patio doors to the front, vaulted ceiling and a gallery with stunning views over the lake. The double patio doors to the front are furnished with electrically controlled curtains. There is a 40” wall mounted TV with internet access and a video camera for use with Skype, a bose digital surround sound system with DVD player, a Ninetendo Wii, media centre and telephone. Wi-fi is available throughout the house. A selection of board games, jigsaw puzzles and books are all provided. No smoking is allowed anywhere within the property and we regret that we cannot accommodate pets.
Beautiful gardens surround the cottage with a large paved area for summer barbeques. There is a landscaped lawn and a croquet set is available. There is a large natural lake with a Log Cabin on the lakeside, a rowing boat and life jackets provided. The lake is teaming with wildlife including swans, mallards, coots and many birds and fish.
There is an abundance of things to see and do nearby. The enchanting Rowallane Garden has guided tours around the magnificent displays of flowers and foliage. Discover Ireland’s only full-sized heritage railway at the County Down Railway. Enjoy the thundering hooves at Down Royal Racecourse which is always a great day out with quality racing and superb horses. The easiest way to access Stone Cottage is via the M1 Motorway, Exit at Junction 6 and follow the A49 signed to Saintfield and Ballynahinch. Keep on the A49 and we are 8 miles from this junction on the right hand side. Follow the tarmac laneway to the bottom of the hill and we are the first cottage on the left hand side. From Ballynahinch town centre follow the signs for Hillsborough and Lisburn. At the 40 mph sign take the road on the right, A49 signed to Lisburn. We are 1 mile on the left from this junction. The deposit is one third of the tariff, or if less than 6 weeks before your holiday the full amount is required.
The final balance will be required in full, 6 weeks before your holiday together with a Good Housekeeping deposit of £100 in the form of a separate cheque. This will be returned to you after your departure and only cashed in the unlikely event of damage or extra cleaning to the cottage.
We do advise you to take out holiday insurance for yourself and your party in the unlikely event of cancellation.
