This charming 2 bedroom cottage was built to house workers from the Belfast Docks during Belfast’s heyday as one of the world’s most prolific ship building cities. The cottage has since gone through extensive renovations, and is now a fully modernized holiday home.

The open plan living and dining area is bright and spacious, stylishly decorated, and boasts a beautiful wooden fireplace and solid oak floors. The large wooden dining table comfortably seats six, while the kitchen has a breakfast bar for those early mornings. The kitchen is fully equipped and is stylishly finished with solid oak units, slate floor tiles, and a designer stainless steel cooker. A delightful courtyard with potted plants to the rear is perfect for catching the midday sun, and for hosting barbeques in the long summer evenings. With 2 large windows the master bedroom has great natural light and has a spacious feel. If you need extra rooms, the owners also own Braeside Country House, providing room only or bed and breakfast accommodation. This luxury house is set in 1.5 acres of private landscaped grounds, nestled in the Holywood hills with stunning panoramic views over Belfast Lough.

Holywood is a beautiful, picturesque town on the shore of Belfast Lough and is well known for its fashionable shops, boutiques, and arts and crafts, not to mention many fine restaurants, cafes, bistros, and bars. Ned’s Bar is the most famous and was first licensed in 1857. Nearby, is the famous Maypole, said to date from the 1700s. Locals still dance around it every May Day. A short drive from Holywood is the affluent district of Cultra, famous for the superb Royal Belfast Golf Club, Ireland’s oldest golf club. The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is certainly worth a visit too. From sailing, golfing, and horse riding to hiking along some of the best coastlines in Northern Ireland, visitors will not be short of things to do in this beautiful region of County Down.
