On the western side of Strangford Lough, Killyleagh has a 12th century castle with fine turrets and battlements which, being home to the Hamilton family for the last 400 years, is now said to be the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland. Concerts are sometimes held in the castle grounds and have hosted international artists such as Van Morrison.
