Right on the border with County Armagh, as well as with the Republic of Ireland, the cathedral town of Newry is Northern Ireland's 4th largest town. It was founded in 1144 as a monastic site and because of it's strategic position and has been of historic significance ever since. The town is well known for it's canals.
