Yew Wood Cottage is a luxury modern bungalow on an elevated site, with scenic views, in a peaceful rural location near Newry and the famous Mourne Mountains.

This country retreat is graded as a 5* by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. It is beautifully furnished and sleeps six people comfortably. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. There is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and plenty of room for sports equipment. The floors are heated for extra comfort. There is a large patio area with barbeque, perfect for those long summer evenings.

The area is popular for hill walking and scenic drives. The ancient monument ‘Kilsnasaggart stone’ is in nearby Jonesborough and Moyry Castle, Jonesborough, are well worth a visit.

There are many golf courses around within easy distance, there is fishing at Camlough Lake and walking trails at Slieve Gullion forestry.

The Welcome Inn in nearby Forkhill provides a friendly bar where you will receive a real Irish welcome and lively atmosphere and hear traditional Irish music every Tuesday evening and popular live bands every Saturday and Sunday.

Murphy’s Pub is also nearby where you can wine and dine in a majestic ambience with the finest cuisine.

This truly is a beautiful holiday home in the country with stunning panoramic views of the rolling hills of South Armagh.

Dublin is only 57 miles with motorway most of the way. From the main Dublin-Belfast Road at the Roundabout (south of Newry) take the road signposted to ‘Forkhill’. Travel along this road to the Village of Meigh (3 miles) at the crossroad turn left at Murphy’s pub over the railway line and take the next turn right into Foughilletra Road travel along for 2 miles and on the left hand side of the road is ‘Yew Wood Cottage’ up on the hill. In Meigh Village, there is a post office nearby with supermarket, chemist, florist, laundry and a 5 star hair and beauty salon which caters to all your needs. It is approximately 6 miles to Newry City and approx 8 miles to Dundalk for Shopping Malls. When visiting beautiful Carlingford, you can relax and enjoy a drink in Taffe’s Castle Bar. There is a selection of local events in the surrounding area including a festival in Forkhill.
