Photos and Description of this holiday home in County Down

This property is no longer available as a holiday let.

Ballygeely Barn is a charming cottage, in an idyllic lakeside location, just outside the historical town of Saintfield, 40 minutes from Belfast City.

Set amongst 50 acres of peaceful farmland, this cosy 2 bedroom converted stables is a home from home in a beautiful countryside backdrop, the perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate. The cottage has a cosy and bright open plan living room with a warm, comfortable ambience that will immediately relax travellers upon arrival. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a comfortable dining area. The master bedroom benefits from its own en-suite bathroom and the second bedroom comes equipped with twin beds.

Outside, a beautiful patio plays centre stage to summer barbeques, meanwhile the family dog will feel right at home with it’s own kennel and dog run. For the kids, there is a fantastic games room with a snooker table, table tennis, and a table football game. The surrounding countryside is a haven of serenity for those looking to get away from it all. Long strolls through the private farmland and country lanes are an ideal way to spend a morning, while afternoons can be spent exploring beautiful Ballygeely Lake.

Saintfield was once a major centre for linen manufacturing, and is now a conservation area in respect for its heritage. The flax mills of the early 18th century have now given way to tea rooms, antique shops, and restaurants making the town a great place to stop on any given day. Saintfield is also famous for Rowallane Gardens, a group of botanical gardens with an amazing variety of rare trees, shrubs, and flowers from all over the world. 30 minutes from the cottage is Strangford, a picturesque village set on one of the most beautiful coastlines in Northern Ireland. At Castle Ward, miles of undisturbed National Trust land can be explored on the grounds of this stunning 18th century mansion. Enjoy the Clearsky Adventure Centre which offers various leisure activities such as sea kayaking, archery, and rock climbing.

The popular Exploris Aquarium is just a short journey across the water in Portaferry. If shopping takes your fancy Belfast is only 40 minutes away, or for a step back in history visit Downpatrick, where Saint Patrick is believed to be buried on Cathedral Hill.

Ballygeely Barn is a wonderful cottage, surrounded by miles of scenic countryside. For people looking to lose themselves in an area of outstanding natural beauty, a stay in Ballygeely Barn is sure to be an unforgettable holiday.
