The Gate Lodge is a charming stone holiday cottage, built in 1870s for Lord Bangor. The private lodge is surrounded by a beautiful lawn and situated at the woodland entrance. Castle Ward is a splendid 18th century Georgian mansion within a walled demesne of beautiful natue trails, stunning vistas, exotic Victorian garden and a pretty farmyard. Castle Ward boasts one of the finest settings in Western Europe overlooking Strangford Lough.
Castle Ward Estate hosts many events all year long and children will enjoy the play area, the Victorian Past Times Centre and visiting the horses, pigs and hens in the farmyard. Visit Strangford Lough Wildlife Centre and Clearsky Adventure Centre for more activities locally.

Downpatrick Gate Lodge is suitable for the less active visitor who would prefer a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, but the cottage may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Please Note there may be a number of bats in the roof space during the months of April to October. Bats are a protected species and must be left undisturbed during this time when they are rearing their young.
Care should be taken in bedrooms and bathroom due to low beams and ceilings.
Electric and oil central heating included in rates.
Highchair and Travel Cot available.
Pet friendly holiday home. A maximum of 2 well-trained dogs are welcome at this cottage at a cost of £20 per week per dog.

2 nightly rates are not available during Peak season.
Booking deposit required is one third of total period booked. The balance is payable no later than 6 weeks before the holiday begins.
All bookings will be subject to a non-refundable security charge of £10 per booking.
