Sandycove is an attractive suburb in South County Dublin, located between Dun Laoghaire and Dalkey. There is a nice seaside walk and a small beach here.
The area is well known as being home to the famous Martello Tower where the writer James Joyce once stayed for a week as a guest of poet Oliver St John Gogarty. Today the tower holds a museum dedicated to all things Joycean. Curiously Joyce fled the tower after being shot at by his host. It is also the birthplace of Irish patriot Sir Roger Casement.
