The popular angling centre of Headford can be found only 30 km north of Galway City.

The trout angling on the nearby Black River is excellent and beautiful Lough Corrib is ideal for leisure craft or hiring a boatman for an evening fishing. Headford has a number of prehistoric and iron age sites.
