Portumna is located on the edge of Shannon’s largest lake. Lough Derg is ideal for sailing, windsurfing, leisure craft and swimming.

Portumna Forest Park has some excellent nature trails and supports a wide variety of flora and fauna. Portumna Castle and the Dominican Friary are well worth a visit .
