Photos and Description of this holiday home in County Galway

Dooley's Cottage is a newly refurbished traditional thatched Irish cottage in a secluded countryside location, set amid the stunning countryside of Cloonboo Beg in the heart of Co. Galway. Dating back to 1850, this romantic getaway has been lovingly and patiently restored by this generation of the family to the finest detail. Modern conveniences have been added discreetly. The thatched cottage exudes peace, tranquility, comfort and ease. Oil fired central heating. But also retains a traditional open turf fire.

An ideal romantic getaway for two. However, it can sleep up to five adults comfortably. One double room en-suite and two loft bedrooms (Due to access the loft rooms are not really suitable for young children, sorry).  An ideal place to relax and unwind, or provide the perfect inspiration for idyl compositions, writers, artists and walkers.

The cottage is well equipped with all modern conveniences(washing machine/ tumble dryer/dishwasher etc.) to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Cloonboo offers the ideal location to explore all parts of Co. Galway. From the Spanish Arches in Galway to the ring fort, Dun Angus, on the Aran Islands. A pleasant 30min. drive will have you in Galway City and when you tire of the busy tourist area of Shop Street and have wined and dined in Quay Street, you'll be glad to return to your own quiet country retreat. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but near enough to avail of all the facilities.

Location:
Steeped in the heart of the Galway countryside in the town land of Cloonboo Beg.
Quiet rural location. Ideal for those escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Surrounded by farms and traditional worked bogs.  An ideal creative nest with long country walks to inspire. It is the perfect base from which to explore the unexplored areas of Ireland. Galway City, Connemara, Athlone, Tuam, Lough Corrib and Ballinasloe are but a short drive away.

Moylough village is the nearest small village (7km), Pubs and shops a plenty, surrounded by rich agricultural lands, natural bogland and beautiful landscape. Some of the interesting features in Moylough area include Moylough Castle, Laught Church and lake, Turlough at Choonoran and Annaghmore.

The small town of Tuam lies 15kms west and is close to two regional airports, Galway and Knock. Local Amenities include golf, tennis, cycling, fishing and horse riding. Tuam is a strong commercial and residential centre with many fine local industries and thriving retail premises, pubs and restaurants.

Headford/Kong  is located 26 km west. The town is the popular angling centre for the eastern shore of Lough Corrib. The town is situated next to the Black River noted for its trout angling.
The area is also  rich in archaeological monuments, ranging from prehistoric burial cairns, Iron Age stone enclosures, early Norman and later castles, to a bewildering array of monastic site. Ashford Castle is also located in this area.
