Ballyferriter is a quiet little area which lies near Smerwick harbor on the west of the Dingle Peninsula 15 km west of the town of Dingle. It is famous for its language school which operates all year.

Ballyferriter has an iron age fort near the harbor and a museum. There are shops, a museum, a bookshop, café, three pubs and a hotel. Louis Mulcahy Pottery Workshop produces some of the finest pottery in Ireland, which you can purchase some pieces or even try your hand at throwing the pot for free. To the east the road to Kilmalkedar offers magnificent views of the Brandon Mountain range.
