Banna village has an excellent beach and is well known for its wildlife and botanical diversity. Lough Akeragh is regularly inhabited by flocks of migratory North American birds in winter.

Irish history enthusiasts will be interested to learn that the famous Sir Roger Casement was captured on Banna beach as he tried to land arms in 1916. Tralee is only ten minutes drive to the south.
