Freshford lies in the Slieveardagh Hills about 10 km southwest of Ballyraggett. It is built on the site of a former 7th century church. The exisiting church dates from the 12th century.

The village has a lovely green with the remains of the base of an early cross. The village has facilities for eating and drinking. Freshford stages the Irish Conker Championship every year.
