Magherafelt is a thriving, friendly town with a population of about 11,000 people. It has great shops, restaurants and bars and self catering Magherafelt.

The area is a great place for sightseeing, lying as it does in a picturesque plain between Lough Neagh and the Sperrin Mountains. The Sperrins are fast becoming a prime hill-walking destination and the Sperrins Hill Walking Festival takes place each August. Cycling is another activity which has been developed in the area.
