Three miles northeast of Maghera, Upperlands is a small village with a long history in the Linen industry. The listed buidings in Boyne Row on the river were once linen workers' houses and bear witness to this history.

There are four well stocked man-made lakes in the area with a surrounding walkway which provides access to anglers.
