Situated on in the south-east of County Longford, Abbeyshrule lies on the Royal Canal which runs from Dublin to Shannon. The village sits in a beautiful valley near the River Inis.

As it's name suggests, it was originally founded as the site of a twelfth century Abbey. The only airfield in the Irish midlands is located here. Flying lessons can be arranged.
