This fairly large town is the county town in Longford. It has good amenities such as a 200 seat theatre and a multiplex cinema. The town has an interesting County Museum.

The nearby Corlea Trackway Visitor's Centre should not be missed as it contains an Iron age bog road built in 148 BC. It's the largest example of it's type in Europe. Longford Town is also the birthplace of the mother of actor Mel Gibson.
