When it's suburbs are counted in, Drogheda in County Louth is the largest town in Ireland. It lies on the River Boyne and is not only an important port and industrial centre but is also of great historical significance.
Drogheda Cathedral is well known as the resting place of the head of Saint Oliver Plunkett. the town has good tourist facilities and a thriving arts community. There's a Samba Festival every summer and the local pubs are well known for live traditional music.
