Perhaps now best known for Slane Castle's rock music festivals which have attracted the likes of the Rolling Stones, the Georgian village of Slane sits on a steep bank of the historic Boyne river.

The village boasts a Folk and Transport Museum. Nearby Newgrange is a world famous Neolithic burial mound and is a must-see while in the area.
