Clones in western County Monaghan is perhaps now best known as the home of Barry McGuigan who became a world featherweight boxing champion in 1985.

The town has an ancient Celtic Cross in it's centre as well as a round tower. The town is now home to The Clones Film Festival which takes place in October.
