The pretty market town of Edenderry lies on the Grand Canal and is near the Bog of Allen and Croghan Hill. The town has two challenging golf courses, an 18 hole golf course and an 18 hole private course nearby at Highfield.

There are also tennis and swimming facilities. For the ultimate thrill head to The Irish Parachute Club based in this area. Attractions well worth a visit  include Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, Charleville Castle and the famous ruins of Clonmacnoise at Shannonbridge.
