Lying on the River Suir in the southeast corner of County Tipperary 13 miles east of Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir is known for it's fair which has been running since the mid-nineteenth century.

The town has two theatres and an Operatic Society which produce quality entertainment on a regular basis. The town also has an 18 hole golf course and a swimming pool.
