TOWNS AND VILLAGES IN TYRONE
Ballygawley (1)
Dungannon lies at the western end of the M1 motorway, 40 miles from Belfast, and is well known internationally for it's Tyrone Crystal factory. The third largest town in County Tyrone, it has won the "Ulster in Bloom" award several times. In 2006 it also won the "best kept town" award.
Dungannon was, until the 17th century, the stronghold of the O'Neill high kings. In the nearby village of Donaghmore there's a fine example of an early Celtic High Cross. Self catering Dungannon visitors will enjoy the surrounding rivers and lakes with their good fishing and there are lovely walks in the Dungannon Park.
