Jacks Cottage - Dungarvan, Waterford

Jacks Cottage is a gorgeous traditional 18th Century thatched fishermans cottage near the town of Clashmore in Waterford.

You enter another world when you stay at Jacks Cottage, a magical world of nature where you hear the birds sing a symphony every day. The cottage is located on the bank of the Blackwater River, famous for its quality of fishing. You may see wild otters and salmon in the river, hear pheasants, cormorants and a variety of other birds in the surrounding fields.

The 3 bedroomed cottage has been recently renovated but retains its traditional charm. It has been tastefully decorated to preserve old world atmosphere with modern convenience. It is very comfortable and spacious with electric heating throughout and a wood burning stove in the dining room.

The brass beds under the thatched roof are very comfortable to aid restful sleeping. The bathroom has a wet room shower and free standing bath. There is a peaceful, well tended south facing riverside garden with direct access to the riverbank. We have also added a hide on the riverbank for watching otters, wildlife and birds.

This is a nature lovers paradise. It is a private secluded retreat perfect for bird watchers, artists, writers, fishermen and walkers. This is an authentic get-away-from-it-all holiday.

If you feel you can tear yourself away from the cottage then you will find plenty to do in Waterford. There are many beautiful beaches and coves to explore, mountains and hills to be climbed. Other activities include whale watching, River trips, canoeing, bowling, Historic tours, Distillery tours, Waterford Crystal, Wildlife park and many more. There are many wonderful restaurants and of course many Irish pubs where you can enjoy true Irish hospitality.
