Situated about 10 miles from Mullingar, this growing, picturesque village of Collinstown has a long history stretching back to the pre-christian era. The ancient ring-forts in the area bear witness to this.

Near the village, at Lough Lene, a boy discovered what is now known as the Lough Lene Bell while fishing for eels. It's thought to date from the 8th century and is now in the National Museum.
